Pink for October

In case you haven’t noticed, Madyson Designs has gone pink! Now I’m normally not a fan of pink, but it’s a great way to show support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month for October. My family has luckily not been closely affected by breast cancer, but with 2.5 million breast cancer survivors in the US alone, it’s still a cause I believe in. (more…)

Moo Cards 2.0

Moo Unboxing

First of all, I have to say that I love Moo. This is the second set of Mini cards I have gotten from them, and I’m again impressed with the order process, the print quality, and the turnaround time. The cards are fantastically handy to keep in a purse or pocket for when you need them. I still have a few of my first batch left, but I decided to order more since I’ve updated my brand look a little, and have started transitioning to my Google Voice number. (more…)

Eight More Creative Ladies

This is a continuation of my original Seven Creative Ladies article. Be sure to read the original post to get more creative inspiration.

I was so inspired by the ladies in my original post that I couldn’t wait to do a second round. These are just a few of the many talented, friendly, and interesting women I have gotten to know recently. This time, I seem to have gotten a very diverse group of women in many creative fields. All serve to show how differently the creative vein runs through different people. Like in my first post, I posed two questions to everyone. The responses are fantastic insight into what makes us all tick. (more…)

InDesign 101

InDesign can seem daunting to beginners since there is so much going on. I rarely come across tips and tricks for InDesign the way I do Photoshop, CSS, and other web-related technologies. Perhaps there is just more audience for web-related information on the web. Hopefully this guide will help new InDesign users become more efficient and more knowledgeable about such a powerful and flexible piece of software. (more…)

Successful Blog Review

I’m far behind in this 31 Days challenge, but I figure it’s better late than never! The task this time is to analyze another successful blog. I’ve picked Graham Smith’s to review, as it seems to be a similar setup to my own combination of portfolio and blog. Here are some of my thoughts. (more…)

Seven Creative Ladies

I love connecting with other designers to find out about how they got their start, and what makes them tick. It’s so inspiring to see how people from so many different walks of life and from so many different backgrounds can all have something in common. A passion to create, no matter what specific avenue, is something I love to see others express. And yet, the creative spark can manifest itself in so many different ways. (more…)

Best Sites for Morning News

The most important thing you can do as a designer is to keep up with current design trends and ideas. You need to be able to know what the big ideas are so you can both use them as inspiration, as well as avoid creating something that looks cliché. Here are five great sites to keep up with what’s going on in the world of design. (more…)

31 Day Challenge – Day 1

I’m participating in the ProBlogger 31 Days to Build a Better Blog challenge. I’ve gotten a late start (spam filter fail) but I’m excited to work on it. The first day’s challenge is:

Write an Elevator Pitch for Your Blog

Basically, an elevator pitch is a short overview that can be delivered in the time span of an elevator ride. (more…)

Perfectionism in Design

I recently came across an article that I thought was really interesting:

Why is a Graphic Designer Never Satisfied?

This is a really nice article for a few reasons. First, it’s a subject near to my heart. I am an incredible perfectionist. (more…)

Degrees of Design

I recently ran into a beginning designer who asked my recommendation on what Adobe product she should pick up and start learning. I was curious about her question, since different products are good for different things. I turned the question around and asked her what she wanted to do in the end, and she wasn’t really sure. (more…)

Customizing WordPress

I found some fantastic resources that helped me figure out how to use WordPress to its fullest. I’m compiling them all here with the hope that it will help out anyone else that is new. Thanks to the designers who originally wrote the articles for sharing their wealth of knowledge with all. (more…)

The New Site
