I guess it depends on how you look at it. I personally didn’t even think of the ‘flimsy and ready to fall apart’ angle. Now that you mention it, I can see that side of it. I also wonder if younger people who have never seen these kinds of toys would get it. But I think the nostalgia would catch older people’s attention.

My first thought was: "Hey, I want one of those, so cool." I too remember playing with these as a little child. However, as interesting and nostalgic as these ads are, my mind only went to easy assembly once you mentioned it, or until i looked at the larger version of the ad. The initial thought that came to my mind was "flimsy and ready to fall apart." I'm just wondering if we rely so heavily on the the little note at the bottom. From an artistic stand point, I think it's brilliant. As a designer I would pause and take in the entirety of it. As a consumer, I'd probably just skip pass it. I don't know that there's anything that tells me this is where I should by my furniture over another store. (I personally have not felt the same nightmare over my IKEA furniture that you have, in comparison to my Target furniture). When I first saw it, I wasn't even positive that it was a furniture store. Hmm. I'm torn on this one. thoughts?

Nice design. The color pattern is a bit bright but it separates the tabs nicely and effectively. .-= Tony M´s last blog ..Increase comments with the more tag =-.
